What We Teach
Classes & Programs
Our programs aren't pulled from a textbook. They're built from lived experience — the kind that comes from walking through addiction, incarceration, and trauma firsthand. Every class is designed to meet people where they are and give them real tools for real life.
Healthy Relationships
Most people coming out of addiction or incarceration have never seen what a healthy relationship looks like. This class breaks down what real connection, trust, boundaries, and communication look like — and how to build them from scratch.
Topics Covered
- —Boundaries and self-respect
- —Communication without conflict
- —Recognizing toxic patterns
- —Building trust after betrayal
- —Family restoration
Post-Incarceration
Getting out is just the beginning. This class walks through the real challenges of reentry — finding housing, navigating employment barriers, rebuilding identity, and dealing with the stigma of a record. Practical, honest, and built for the road ahead.
Topics Covered
- —Navigating background checks and employment
- —Rebuilding ID and documentation
- —Parole and probation compliance
- —Reestablishing community ties
- —Managing the stigma of a record
Post-Addiction
Recovery doesn't end when the substances stop. This class addresses what comes after — the cravings, the triggers, the identity shift, and the long work of rebuilding a life. Honest conversations about what sustained recovery actually looks like.
Topics Covered
- —Understanding triggers and cravings
- —Building a sober support network
- —Relapse prevention strategies
- —Rebuilding self-worth and identity
- —Long-term recovery planning
Visions
Where do you go from here? Visions is a goal-setting and life-planning class that helps residents and community members dream again — and then build a real path toward those dreams. Because hope without a plan is just a wish.
Topics Covered
- —Setting short and long-term goals
- —Identifying strengths and gifts
- —Creating an action plan
- —Overcoming self-limiting beliefs
- —Accountability and follow-through
Trauma-Informed Care
Addiction, incarceration, and homelessness don't happen in a vacuum — they're almost always rooted in trauma. This class helps participants understand their own trauma responses, begin the healing process, and develop tools to move forward without being controlled by the past.
Topics Covered
- —Understanding trauma and its effects
- —Recognizing trauma responses
- —Grounding and regulation techniques
- —Healing without re-traumatizing
- —Supporting others through trauma
Beyond the Classroom
Community & Give Back
Recovery isn't just about stopping something — it's about becoming something. Our community programs give residents and graduates a chance to serve, connect, and prove to themselves and others that transformation is real.
Reentry Work Program
Real work experience for men and women rebuilding their employment history. We connect residents with job opportunities, help them navigate the workforce, and walk alongside them as they rebuild their professional lives.
Community Service
Giving back is part of the healing. Residents participate in community service projects that build character, restore dignity, and show the community that people in recovery are assets — not liabilities.
Peer Mentorship
Those who've walked the road become guides for those just starting. Our peer mentorship program connects newer residents with graduates who've been through it — because sometimes the most powerful thing is hearing 'I made it, and so can you.'
